Hi, just come on here to have a moan today as am feeling really fed up with my lot in life. I have been off work on the sick for nearly 3 months, and although I am on a cocktail of medication, my hips hurt relentlessly, my feet are sore and I feel like I will never improve. I have a meeting with works occupational health on Wednesday next week, and dont know what to say about the liklihood of getting back to work. I have a twelve week old puppy who I took for a walk today and couldnt walk any where near as far as I used to without being in knawing pain. So fed up.

Hi Louise

I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so poorly. I'm sure you have already but is it worth speaking to your rhuemy nurse or consultant? Sometimes I feel like i have to keep speaking to them.

Really feel for you as its horrible to be in so much pain everyday.

I've had a lot of time off since i was diagnosed with my RA in March 09 and since October I have had time off every month due to RA or upset tummy problems, I've called in sick today as well, I really worry about it but what can we do.

I really hope things get better for you Louise, take care.

Hi Louise,

So sorry you are feeling down at the moment and the RA is playing up.

There are some days when it really hits us hard and yes we are only human and we do get fed up with the constant pain, never knowing where its going to hit us next.

I wish you well with your meeting next week with the occupational health, try not to worry about what to say, just tell them like it is, be honest, sometimes we can only take a day at a time.

Chin up

Hello Louise,

So sorry you feel so fed up. Just wanted to say you are not on your own.

I was off sick 7 half months last year with the RA, although I started back on
a graded return and now doing 12 hours a week , I cant see me going back to
Managerial position and full time working. The days I don't work I am in pain and the FATIGUE is
awful. I am nearly 57 so also wonder - Do I need to work like a Trojan anymore

So many people do not understand do they ?

Good luck with your appointment with occuoational health. Keep posting

Rose

Oh Louise you do sound so fed up.

I'm wondering when your next appt. with the consultant is?
Also have you had a depo injection recently?
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

hi Louise,

join the Club ... am feeling really fed up and tearful here too.

went to see Rheumy Nurse yesterday to being the process of going onto Anti-TNF's.

are you due for Consultant/Nurse appointment soon, as a Depo injection might help you through this tough timeas Julie says.

fortunately my days of working are long gone but i can't begin to imagine the pressure of it with this condition.

take care,

Suzanne x

me going back to work
well i would sruggle but fit enough to do 2/3 4 hours a day but the trouble with what i am good at and trained for .
is its 24/7 shifts .
My Hubby said i did not have to go back .
so i am home now so nice not too have to worry about going to work having to drive and the rest of it .

i had done 37 years or paid stamp for that long .
ANd do do it for red cross vol .

and i would be expected to take exams i would be expected to have nvq 2/3 ( i have done it but never took the exam ) I would had the exam 07 and went of sick before that .

So that and triedness does not mix
so home now

Hi Louise

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. Unfortunately RA has a lot to answer for at times RollEyes We do all go there so you are not alone in this.

It sounds like your medication is not adequate for your needs and perhaps it is time for a review or perhaps even a temporary boost to get you through this bad period. The question of returning to work would appear to be some way off and certainly not something that you should be worrying about just now. The most important thing is to get some appropriate treatment that will get the RA fully under control so that you will improve.

Do try to push for an early appointment with either a rheumatology nurse or your rheumatologist. Uncontrolled disease can lead to further problems so do give them a call. At the moment you are suffering needlessly and even different pain relief may help.

Good luck Louise. Stay positive (as hard as it is) you will feel better ThumpUp

Hi Louise
Sorry your feeling so rubbish I know how you feel, its like its neverending and hard to see the light at the end! Dont worry about work I know its hard but its an added pressure you dont need when your feeling so unwell...Ring rheumatology and ask to be seen like Julie said a depo would help, let us know how you get on luv Ceri x

I know it is tough going but in all honesty most people do really well on the meds but it often takes a few months for them to kick in. In the meantime you might ask the GP to stab you with some depomedrome to calm it all down a bit.
NRAS do this great bklt about RA for employers. It is worth getting a copy before seeing Occy health next wk.

I wont ask why you got a puppy upon dx of RA?! Bonkers! RollEyes Isnt 12 wks when they really chew everything up?
